Are you an experienced winemaker with an adventurous spirit and a passion for cool-climate winemaking? Do you have interest in producing world-class wines from a wide array of vinifera and hybrid grapes? Are you looking for an opportunity to add your own influence to the legacy of one of the Finger Lakes' most storied wineries? Well, look no further!
In operation for four decades, Swedish Hill has built a reputation for producing classic, award-winning wines reflective of the Finger Lakes' unique history, viticulture, and terroir. Now under new ownership, we're seeking an ambitious, dynamic winemaker to help us write the next chapter of this story. With a portfolio that includes still, sparkling, and dessert wines from both vinifera and hybrid grapes, as well as hard ciders and aperitifs, this position offers plenty of variety and zero boring days.
Our ideal candidate has a track record of cool-climate winemaking success and a wide open mind. They'll be excited to join, direct, and learn from an experienced cellar and vineyard team, while representing the winery as a member of the Finger Lakes' highly collaborative winemaking community. They've got solid technical winemaking abilities, fresh ideas, and an appetite for experimentation. They're organized and focused with the ability to multi-task as needed. If they had experience with custom crush operations, that'd be a huge bonus.
And that's just the work -- the Finger Lakes are also an incredible place to live and play. With bountiful natural beauty and outdoor activities, a world-class food and beverage scene, low cost of living, and proximity to metro areas like Rochester, Syracuse, and Buffalo, our little slice of paradise has just about everything you could ever want.
If all of this sounds like the opportunity you're looking for, send us a resume. We're looking forward to building something exciting here and would love for you to join us!

Our Story
The Martin family’s story began unlike most in this industry; honeybees. Co-Owners George and Ginny Martin along with their son and Co-Owner, Ed Martin, ran a commercial beekeeping business up and down the East Coast. When they began searching for new ways to utilize their honey that’s when Co-Owner, Bill Martin, got creative. After experimenting with home winemaking he began exploring making wine from honey. That’s when the family knew this could be something really big. Little did they know where they’d be today.
What was once a family starting a new business venture out of their garage has now grown into established wineries and distilleries throughout upstate New York. The Martin family is undoubtedly passionate about what they do and the people they connect with along the way. We invite you to learn more about their story and to visit one (or all) of our locations to experience the family tradition with us.
